Elise Brion
I have moved in Shadows, born of the Light
for lifetime after lifetime
I have craved the clarity
seeking myself in the darkest and the deepest of the veils
I have worn these, time and again
coming to believe that they were of my own doing
they began to take away my Sight
blurry images before my face
choosing to wear fabricated lenses so as to see what they wanted me
to see
the shadow was then what I came to believe as mine
they ask one to look at the letters on the wall
“Which are the clearest? Read them to me.”
the letters are in a box, lit up in a darkened room

senseless formation, making me think I can’t see
I used to take your piece of paper to fill the prescription
of my oblivion
but now the Dragon of my One Desire compels me to BE
exactly WHO I AM
PURE SIGHT
PURE CLARITY
A VISION SO BRIGHT
that their boxes will burst into crystal shards
upon the LIGHT
leaving only the space from which I have seen
since before there were Shadows to veil
