Back in the early 1980’s while teaching a religion class at a church in California, I coined the term “Earth Guides” when referring to those adults in the class who professed to be “witnesses for Christ.” It was my assumption that, as a “witness” for Christ one of the principle duties should be to lead others – those who are not “saved” – to a place in their lives where they would become “saved.”  So I presented this concept of being “Earth Guides” to my class.   I remember telling them at the time, “Since the common teaching of the church is that Christians are “saved” and those who are not Christians are not saved, we are the Guides, and they are the ones to be guided.”

I knew all the Christian jargon back then (I still do) but as I dished out my lessons on Earth Guides two things began to be realized in my own mind:

 

What weren’t we getting? Simple. First of all, we weren’t getting the jargon itself, in that the cliché jargon that is tossed around in churches – back then as well as today – is not meant to be used in the way it is being used.  Terms such as “saved” and “witness” and “born again” and whatever, are metaphors for much deeper things the Christian church never has been able to “get” and still doesn’t have a clue about even now that we have entered the 21^st Century.

The second thing we weren’t getting – or at least I wasn’t getting – was the fact that my new term “Earth Guide” could never be as limited in scope as I was presenting it to the class. I was on the right track but I wasn’t taking it far enough.  An “Earth Guide” has nothing to do with being a Christian, a Jew, a Hindu or a member of any of the other organized faiths on this planet.  Not then, not now, not ever.  In fact, it has very little to do with the physical dimension at all - which is where faiths and religions all reside.  An Earth Guide is one who, although housed within a physical form, is concerned far more with the Supernatural dimension/plane and with the welfare of the Spirit Nature rather than anything to do with the physical.

As time went by two major events occurred in my own life.  First, having attained everything I could from the particular church denomination I belonged to, and desiring much deeper insight into the mysteries of eternity than the superficial clichés that particular group could give me, I left the denomination completely and began the Bliss-Parsons Institute in an effort to teach others what I had gleaned from my many long years of in-depth study as well as my own personal experiences with the Supernatural Realm.

Second, I perfected the meaning of my Earth Guide concept and have now copyrighted it for the Bliss-Parsons Institute as one of our principle teachings.  This article will explain more fully what I mean by that term and it will stress its importance as a label for the most precious product we share here at the Institute: YOU … those among our readers who wish to accept the personal responsibility it takes to become an Earth Guide and live that principle in their lives.  For it will never be politics and wars that will change this planet for the better.  The Final Change can only result via the spread of Light and Love from one Earth Guide to another, until genuine Truth permeates every square inch of this globe.

Here then is a very brief treatise on “Earth Guides” and what they are responsible for in this plane of existence.  More articles of clarification will follow in the next few issues of this journal.

An Earth Guide is a person who has reached his or her own state of Enlightenment and then makes the personal commitment to aid others in reaching theirs.  It really is as simple as that.  But in order for us to truly understand it in its simplicity, one word must be clarified. 

I’m referring to the word “Enlightenment.”  This is a word that carries a lot of baggage with it.  Most people automatically consider it to be a term used for the state of perfection one reaches in an Eastern Religion such as Hinduism. And in the superficial sense this would be correct.  But, once again, we have to look beyond the superficial and into the realms of metaphor.  I prefer to define the word in simpler terms, which to me clarifies even deeper meanings (does that make sense?) 

For me, the word “Enlightenment” means the state of being one attains when one “gets it.”  As in, one of those “AHA!” moments we all get when an epiphany of a higher magnitude strikes us suddenly and changes our life forever. 

To be “enlightened” simply means that the lights got turned on.  What was once the darkness of your conscious mind – due to the dark haze of misinformation, lies, and indoctrination you have received from nearly every person, place or thing you have experienced in your life – has now become the LIGHT OF TRUTH due to that incredible AHA moment when you all of a sudden “got it!”

So … what did you get?  That too is simple.  You got several things all at once: 

YOU GOT THE TRUTH that you are not really the person you see every morning in the mirror when you brush your teeth, but that you are the Spirit Person that resides within.  YOU GOT THE TRUTH that there is really no such thing as race or color or religion, or anything else that tends to separate humanity into divisions or classes that war continually with each other.  YOU GOT THE TRUTH that every human being on this earth is a Spirit Person just like you are and that none of us are unique, physical entities at all, but Eternal Beings of Light and Energy and Love… and we are all connected on some level via a different dimension that has been called Heaven, Summerland, the Astral Plane, the Afterlife, and the Other Side.

YOU GOT THE TRUTH that you can’t really believe everything you read in the papers, or everything ANY of the political parties tell you, because they are still stuck in the physical dimension with no sign of ever being released. YOU GOT THE TRUTH that you can no longer rely on what your church teaches you because it no longer teaches the Truth, because it insists on pushing its own denominational slants and biases (and I am including many of the New Age/New Thought churches in this as well because they have become saturated with bias and agenda over the years as well.)

YOU GOT THE TRUTH that 99% of what goes on in this plane of existence is just plain silly.  That none of it really means anything.  Not our hobbies, our entertainment, our wars, our petty differences, our sporting events, our habits, our leisure activities, our romances, our religions, even our physical lives. 

The only thing that REALLY matters is TRUTH.  And the TRUTH is that none of those above mentioned activities and conventions are really TRUE.  They are all physical “things” that come and go and mean absolutely nothing. The True Truth is that only those things that deal with the After Life have any meaning even for this life.
Now … if you are firmly entrenched in one specific organized religion or another then I doubt that you will agree with anything that I have just written and, in fact, the chances are that you may even judge and condemn what I have written.  And that is your right to do so.  I do not condemn you back.  I wish you well.  If you feel as if what you know today is the sum total of everything God ever meant for you to know, and what you haven’t learned yet you were never meant to know … then God Bless You.  I pray your life be filled with Bliss.

But … if you wish to grow in wisdom and in knowledge of the deeper Mysteries of God … if you feel there is more to life than what you see on the television and more to the Mysteries than the “same old same old” you have been taught over and over again … then I would say you have all the signs of being an Earth Guide!  And I would hope that you would continue to follow this journal for future clarification on how to live your physical life as an Earth Guide – that is, how to relate to both the earthly dimension as well as the Supernatural, as well as, how to effectively communicate between the two.
